What's New in Bots: Oct 31, 2026

Anthropic renamed its top Claude plans and dropped the five hour limit on Ultra, Perplexity Computer can now drive your own Chrome, and ChatGPT lets you switch accounts on your phone.
Claude: Max and Ultra
Anthropic renamed its Max plans on Oct 30. Max 5x is now just Max, and Max 20x is now Ultra. Prices did not change (Max is still $100 a month and Ultra is still $200), and subscribers do not need to do anything. The bigger news is that Anthropic is removing the five hour limit for verified Ultra accounts, starting with most existing subscribers. Newer accounts keep a temporary limit until they are verified. That is welcome headroom if you run long running tasks.
On the developer side, the Claude API now accepts requests up to 128 MB for Messages and Token Counting, up from 32 MB, so long computer use sessions and big PDFs stop hitting the wall early. The 128 MB limit applies to the first party Claude API; through cloud platforms it is still 20 to 32 MB.
Perplexity: Computer drives your Chrome
Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas announced on Oct 30 that Perplexity Computer can now control your Chrome browser from the Perplexity Mac and Windows apps. You add a browser extension once, and Computer can open sites, read pages, fill forms and finish tasks in tabs where you are already signed in. It works with Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc and other Chromium browsers, and Comet users already have it built in. Perplexity says Computer only uses the browser during a task you started. An agent working inside your logged in sessions is exactly where you want a human in the loop, especially for anything like buying with bots.
ChatGPT: switch accounts on your phone
Per the ChatGPT release notes for Oct 30, account switching is rolling out to the iOS and Android apps. You can stay signed in to up to two ChatGPT accounts and switch between them without signing out, and each account keeps its own chats, memory, settings and subscriptions. Look under Settings, then Switch account. (Doubled Work and Codex usage on Pro was in yesterday's roundup.)
For businesses, OpenAI also introduced Private Intelligence, a set of privacy controls for using its most capable models with sensitive data. It pulls together Zero Data Retention for eligible workflows, Private Inference (in preview, using confidential computing), and controls over what agents can access, which actions they can take, and when they need your approval.
