Start Your CRM Bot Read-Only

The first CRM login you give a bot should be read-only. It can pull records, run reports, and summarize. It cannot edit, delete, or send anything from the CRM.
Give the bot its own user rather than sharing yours, so the audit trail shows what the bot touched. Scope it to the objects the job needs (a pipeline review needs opportunities, accounts, and activities, not every field in the system). Keep the credential somewhere safe, never pasted into a chat.
Add write access later, one object and one field at a time, once the read-only work has held up. The full approach is in Using Your Bot to Mine Your CRM, and more short lessons live in BotStaffer Tips.
