What's New With Bots: Week of Oct 27, 2026

What's New With Bots, week of Oct 27, 2026

Bots got wallets, proactive agents started coming off the waitlist and the big plans got more headroom, so here is what was new with bots the week of Oct 27, 2026.

Every weekday we track what is new in bots. This is the week in one read, pulled from our daily issues for Oct 27, Oct 28, Oct 29, Oct 30, Oct 31 and Nov 2. If you want features and prices side by side, that is the job of the Weekly Bot Scorecard.

Bots Got Wallets

The biggest thread this week was money. Grok Bot 0.77 gave its Vault a Payments tab where you pick the card your bots use first and still approve every purchase, and a few days later 0.78.1 added shopping cards with photos, ratings and prices, Shop Pay, and templates that cancel free trials and unused subscriptions (all on the Grok Bot changelog). Perplexity Computer can now drive your own Chrome in tabs where you are already signed in. And OpenAI brought Oracle apps into ChatGPT, one more reason a CRM still matters for bots. If any of this has you thinking about buying with bots, start with the approvals turned on.

Bots That Come to You

Proactive agents kept spreading. Anthropic opened a waitlist for Claude Duet, which comes to you with what needs attention and checks with you before it acts, and by Oct 28 invites were going out to US Max subscribers first, with US Pro next. Slack gave Slackbot Event-Triggered Tasks that act when a message lands or a list item changes, with a choice of ask me first or auto-approve. OpenAI's dots picked up texting over iMessage and RCS as a preview for US Pro users, plus a Home Screen widget, and on Nov 2 came word that OpenAI is working on more models to run them, including GPT-6.1 Terra. Good timing if you are setting up team bots.

More Headroom, New Math

Plans moved too. OpenAI shipped GPT-6.1 Terra with API prices 50% lower than GPT-5.6 Terra, and per the ChatGPT release notes doubled Work and Codex usage on Pro 100 and Pro 500. Anthropic renamed Max 5x to Max and Max 20x to Ultra at the same prices, and is removing the five hour limit for verified Ultra accounts. Then over the weekend OpenAI said that starting in December, Plus, Pro and Business will share one token based allowance across ChatGPT and Codex. A big Codex job and your everyday chats will come out of the same pot, which makes long running tasks worth testing as a small batch first.

For Builders

Cursor made its Agent SDK generally available, Microsoft is opening up the Copilot harness through Microsoft Foundry, and DeepSeek open sourced Super-Agent, a research prototype that takes work from GitHub threads. Garry Tan also launched a hosted GBrain at $199 a month, alongside the free open-source version. Check the license and try anything new on a side repo first, per our guide to using open source with your bots.

The Reminder

Not every story was a launch. On Oct 29 a maliciously modified copy of the Claude Code extension (version 2.1.313) sat in the Cursor extension marketplace for about 11 hours, per Cursor's security notice. If you use Cursor, make sure you are on 2.1.314. OpenClaw also shipped a security patch the same day. Weeks like this are why we keep a human in the loop.
